Benefit Overview
The General Assistance (GA) maximum monthly grant level is $150.00 for a single adult.
A GA client who has no other medical insurance or coverage is also entitled to township medical benefits
Family case grants are based on the number of persons in the family.
Are You Eligible for General Assistance?
If you can answer Yes to any of the following questions, then you are ineligible for General Assistance in the City of Champaign Township.
- Do you live outside of the City of Champaign Township?
- Do you receive SSI (Disability) ?
- Do you receive Social Security benefits in excess of $212 per month, other than SSI?
- Do you have a State Class X or Class 1 Felony Drug conviction or Federal law equivalent?
- Do you have an active felony warrant for your arrest?
- Do you have a gross income of more than $619.00 per month?
- Do you currently receive a cash grant from IDHS?
- Have you been denied a cash grant from IDHS due to failure to cooperate with that agency?
- Have you had a IDHS case terminated as a result of reaching the lifetime limit?
- Have you had your SSI canceled due to your failure to remain eligible?
- Are you receiving or eligible to receive Unemployment Compensation in the amount of $212 or more per month during the month of application?
- Do you have children under the age of 18 or under in the household?
- Are you pregnant?
